Modern Apprenticeships is a government scheme in which they part fund the training of young people in a wide variety of businesses. The idea being that it will help break the endless catch 22: you can’t get a job because you haven’t had training; you can’t get training because you haven’t got a job.The campaign was aimed at young school/college leavers and as the Internet is such a good channel to reach this audience, we chose to use banners on selected youth sites. At the start of each banner we showed a job in one of three industries (telecommunications, health & beauty or construction) and said “if you fill this space”, we’ll fill these spaces and showed a head and a wallet. In short, get a job, get training, get more money. The results were quite impressive; with the banners receiving an average click through of 0.52% - 29 times the industry average of 0.018% click through.
