OVERVIEW

Description

We watch a casting video of a young actress. She begins her audition performing an orgasm. As she reaches climax she calls out ‘More… more’. The request for more triggers a reaction and she begins to question why she is casting for such a gender stereotyped role. We watch an emotional, internal struggle unfold before the actress turns directly to camera and begins demanding more of what she really wants: funding, opportunity, diversity… more women. It is an incredibly powerful performance that highlights the gender inequality issues faced by women struggling to reach parity in the film industry. The piece ends on the bold statement ‘We want more for women in film’ For Film’s Sake. Along with the call to action: URL and festival dates.

Execution

Our most significant challenge was $0 budget. The agency supplied head hours for 3 female creatives, 1 female producer and minimal post production. Not a dime more.

We had two weeks from concept approval to on-air date.

During this time we sourced an all-star female team including a Director, Cinematographer, leading Theatre Actress and Studio Manager who donated their time for the cause. Most post-production was done internally with an hour grade donated by White Chocolate Post.

The film ran in cinemas, city bars, special events and on multiple social platforms. We are scheduled to present the work on closing night of the festival in front of hundreds, including representatives from Sydney City Council, Screen Australia, Screen NSW and Event Cinemas.

Outcome

Within five days on social media the film had thousands of views. Social chatter has been extremely positive with increasing shares by film bodies such as The Brooklyn Film Festival. It has had massive exposure in cinemas, at event activations, popular bars across Sydney and reached millions via the FFS partner network.

The festival opened the night of Wednesday 26th April with increased participation and public support from previous years. Online interaction for the event is up and FFS is achieving sell out screenings across the event.
