Description
The artist Moto Waganari asked us to develop a digital show and sales room for his filigree polygon sculptures. The virtual gallery should give his art the right amount of space to let true fascination unfold, and arouse real purchase interest.
Execution
As Waganaris art loses its magical appeal through the limitations of a computer screens, we developed something entirely new: REAL VIRTUALALITY – the first gallery that makes untouchable art touchable. It takes viewers along on a journey from reality to virtuality and back again. Inviting them to discover the sculptures in a playful way as real purchasable art. While moving freely between both worlds, users meet the sculptures digital archetypes. They are allowed to touch, to reshape and finally to re-materialise them in a London gallery for purchase. Acoustically and visually, accompanied by Waganari’s gallery owner who accepts purchase requests directly.
Outcome
REAL VIRTUALITY created a fascination for Moto Waganari's art like no other media before. It brought the sculptures out of local galleries right into the world – without any media budget. People from over 130 countries visited the website and stayed for an average time of 3.10 minutes. Alone from 01.02. – 21.03. more than 56,700 unique visitors came to the website and made it a huge successs: Countless purchase and exhibition requests arrived from all over the world – so that Waganari's latest collection is almost sold out now.
