OVERVIEW

Background

Pizza Hut wanted to be known as the pizza of pop culture among young Malaysians, and one occasion heavily associated with pizza is movie nights. We were tasked to help Pizza Hut own this moment and establish the brand as the perfect companion to movies.

Idea

We recreated memorable movie posters with an added ingredient–the iconic red roof from Pizza Hut's logo. They sparked inspiration among millennial and Gen Z Malaysians who took to social media to share their own movie poster doodles.

Execution

We created four unique poster designs based on four iconic movies. Utilising Pizza Hut's striking visual language and a bold contrast of black and red–two of Pizza Hut's primary brand colours–we transformed recognisable elements or characters from each movie into graphics, and made the hut icon the anchor of each design.

The posters appeared on digital screens at selected Pizza Hut outlets, reminding patrons that they can also enjoy movie nights at home with their favourite pizza brand.

Outcome

The campaign successfully drove brand love and engagement on Pizza Hut's social media. Malaysians who spotted the posters were inspired to share their own movie poster doodles, asking their followers to guess the movie. Pizza Hut established a foothold in Malaysia's community of movie buffs.
