OVERVIEW

Description

My First Outfit is a new Uniqlo store service offering a formative clothing experience with the fun of picking out clothes and the delight of transforming oneself through clothing.

The service also aids kids’ development, as it fosters their independence and autonomy through selecting an outfit.

Execution

The service was designed for easy store implementation, requiring no layout or other in-store changes. As a result, the service is now in more than 200 stores.

50 min Service program:

(1) Orientation: Store staff give kids pointers on selecting clothes.

(2) Select: With a shopping basket in hand, kids roam around the store looking for clothes they like.

(3) Coordinate: Kids compare the clothes they selected and visualize an outfit.

(4) Try on: Kids try on the outfits and pick their favorite.

(5) Show off: Kids show off their outfits to their parents and explain their reasons and impressions.

Outcome

- Service deployed at more than 200 stores

- More than 12,000 kids have participated in the program

- 98 percent of the participants were satisfied with the program

- Doubled sales per customer - Note: There was no obligation to make a purchase

• My First Outfit is now a permanent store service and will be rolled out in 14 countries worldwide

• Each store has tailored the program to its clientele, and the service has boosted staff motivation

• Photos of the kids’ outfits have spread on social media
