'Redskin' is a derogatory racial slur used to describe Native American people. Despite being a historically offensive term, an NFL Franchise (the Washington Redskins) refuse to change their name, even though Native Americans have protested it. Washington's owner Dan Snyder has a large financial interest in keeping the name the same, which outweighs the insult to this oft overlooked group of people.
