Description

It is a stormy night. A young woman stands on a street corner, her hair blowing over her face. We see her smiling as the wind howls. A Mazda2 approaches her and she jumps in the car and kisses the young driver. They drive out of town. We see dynamic shots of the car as it passes road signs and street lights blowing in the wind and people closing their shutters. Inside the car, we see the cockpit controls as the driver shifts through the gears. They drive along the coast, come to a stop, and the guy turns off the headlights. They look at each other and quickly start pulling off their clothes. Then the guy turns on the headlights, revealing they are on a beach being pounded by waves. They get out of the car and we see they have stripped down to wetsuits, covered with LED lights. Now the show begins. The surfers dive into the sea, glowing in the beam of the Mazda2 headlights, and perform a spectacular night surfing show.

All-new Mazda2. Designed with a little more attitude.

Execution

In this commercial, two professional surfers get in to their Mazda2 and determinedly head to a mysterious challenge.

The soundtrack for the film is an adaptation of the original composition by British musician Nathan Joseph White also known as Whitey. Called ‘Somebody, Grab the Wheel’ this track is a new single from his forthcoming album Pick Up Your Shadow, which we mixed in several renditions for producing the Mazda2 film in varying lengths.

This music lent just the right support and atmosphere to the film – where the story develops to a challenge and one can feel the energy of suspense in the track, and the fast paced resolution that follows, for the conflict faced by our lead talent. The music contributed greatly to the feel of the film, the storytelling and made the set-up come alive for Mazda’s most spirited supermini yet, the all-new Mazda2.
