Description
What does “Sleeplessness” actually sound like? That’s what Garnier set out to answer with their film for Miracle Sleeping Cream. A new night cream designed to help 35-45 year old women wake up looking rested, even if they didn’t get much sleep.
The film puts viewers in bed with the characters, using sound to provoke visceral reactions and experience the anxiousness and frustration women feel when they’re kept up by snoring husbands, crying babies, pets and countless other distractions.
Execution
Garnier’s agency commissioned a renowned Jazz musician to create the film’s “Soundtrack of the Sleepless.” Once the track was composed, a local Foley artist was brought in to provide custom sound design. Each sound was first created as an acapella version in his studio, then digitized for the final piece. Much of what you’re hearing is not actually what you think it is, for example the rustling of sheets is really him putting on winter coats and the sound of Mom drooling is actually him squishing Macaroni & Cheese between his fingers.
The end result is Not Getting Enough In Bed? a humorous portrayal of typical nighttime distractions, brought to life on screen by its “Soundtrack of the Sleepless.”
