OVERVIEW

Description

In Portugal nearly all public and private sector employees receive an extra month’s salary in the summer and Christmas holidays. This is called subsídio. One of the first measures the government took since the beginning of the European economical crisis was to cut on these extra pays. Near the holidays, when no one would receive this year Christmas allowance, RFM gave back some hope. RFM gave back the subsídio.

Execution

RFM Radio is a young and humorous radio station, and the morning show tend to joke with all they can remember. The economical, and political situation in Portugal isn’t the best. So why don’t we make fun of it?

The timing was perfect! It was the first time Portuguese would lose their Christmas allowance, and on the other side of the Atlantic, President Obama was on his re-election campaign.

Outcome

There were 70.338 people enrolled in the contest, but Facebook fans grew by 150.729 during this campaign (surpassing the 500.000 fans). Only four engagement ads on Facebook got 0,8% CTR (the average is 0.03% to 0.05%). There were 13 404 728 interactions on the Facebook page, and a total of 107.314 clicks.

In the end there were 30 calls made to find 10 happy winners from the north to the south of Portugal.
