Background
For this spot, we were asked to replace our iconic Philadelphia cream cheese music with a darker, more sinister version. We needed to provide the "Hell" as a counterpoint to the historic heavenly nature of the Philly brand.
Execution
Rather than just completely replace the iconic Philly music, we wanted to highlight the transformation, so we started the spot with the original music, and then morphed it into a brutal death metal rendition of the track. The original happy “yum” singing transformed into deep guttural screams, while the angelic choir morphed into a wall of detuned guitars.
In the end, we created a track that even the most hardcore Death Metal fan could not deny.
