Strategy

a new inspirational film that captures four of these stories through four of the most talented and exceptional photographers I know: John H.White, Carol Guzy, Deanne Fitzmaurice, and Ami Vitale.

Execution

The goal of the film was to illustrate the difficult-to-define power that exists when a camera is placed in the hands of the right person - both through the featured photojournalists as well as the filmmaking itself. Filmed with a 2-person crew, the Power of Photography production team created an intimate setting where the photographers could open up about their passion and their past. Seven shoot days were spread across four states in April, 2021. During the 4-months of post-production, the photographers selected and edited the still images as the video was assembled by the edit team. The final film was shared on Nikon‘s social media channels and featured on the landing page for Nikon‘s website.

Outcome

The Power of Photography received more than 2 million impressions across all social channels and was shared by a number of influential photographers and artists. During the launch of Nikon’s new flagship camera, the Z9, the Power of Photography was played as part of the loop of content to build excitement around the brand. The executive team at Nikon believe that the Power of Photography film, along with the launch of the Z9, have re-established Nikon as the industry leader in the camera world.
