Description

Reports of books’ demise appear to have been greatly exaggerated, with global sales at record levels. Founded in 1935, Penguin includes global subsidiaries and is one of the world’s most-loved brands.

Execution

The Book of Penguin – intentionally a book (not a website, blog or podcast).

The style is self-consciously “bookish” and uses gentle humour with simple, brand-based illustrations to echo the ‘Dignified, but flippant’ character of the company. While it is a celebration, the subtle tone reflects the aim to quietly inspire, not lecture or boast.

Outcome

“Congratulations to all who have been involved in producing a superbly presented work which manages to achieve so much in less than a hundred pages. Even this far from the print, it smells good enough just as soon as you open it to remind us what books are all about!” (Bob Sessions- Publishing Director, Pearson Australia)“It looks fantastic - amazing and innovative design.” (Simon Winder- Editorial Director, Penguin Press, Penguin UK)“The book is an absolute triumph… I think brave statements like this have a big impact on the people we work with.” (Peggy Vance, Category Publisher, DK, UK)
