Football Superstars is an online football world which brought together – gaming, management and lifestyle in a virtual world equipped with streets, homes & shops. Matches featured console quality gaming with each player on the team and individual playing from home. Pre/post match you were able to socialise with your team mates in the virtual world. Puma integrated themselves into every element of the world:- The Puma Training Academy. Complete with branded coaches every player need to pass through here and learn tricks e.g. the Cruyff Turn - Gameplay. Points gave you access to different Puma V Boots which gave you speed and skill boosts. - A Puma store (exact replica of the flagship UK Carnaby St store in London) kitted out with 40 unique Puma items- Puma Outdoor. Puma had branding around the virtual world from billboards to jumbotrons to boardings around the football pitches.

Outcome

The game exceeded targets with 300,000 registered users since its launch. Everyone has passed through the Puma Training Academy clocking up an impressive 60,000 hours of gameplay. Beyond that there have been 160,000 kickabout practice matches played and an average of 40,000 league matches a month, with everyone trying to improve their skills to qualify for the coveted Puma kit.We hit gamers where it matters and we shut Nike and Adidas out of this new phenomenon. How would this impact in the real world? Research says 79% of respondents say they will now purchase Puma products offline as a result.
