Description

We wanted to attract more visitors to our country, showing Portugal as a trendy destination.

Execution

We created the world's first QR code with Portuguese cobblestone. This QR code, located in the heart of Lisbon, lead to contents promoting Portugal, its history, its neighborhoods and its cultural events. The content was a blend between images, text and an innovative sound experience that reproduced the sound of the cobblestones being worked on. But to promote Portugal we also had to attract tourists, who were not there yet. So, we removed stones, from the pavements of Lisbon, and we took them to the most visited city in the world, Barcelona. We then transformed them into QR codes in Portuguese cobblestone – Historical, promotional QR codes, offering a 1 free night in a hotel in the city of Lisbon.

Outcome

This 1st QR code made with Portuguese cobblestone in the world spread everywhere.

It earned free Media in Newspapers, Magazines, radio, Blogs, Website.

In Lisbon, the code had more than 200.000 scans.

And its promotional video reached more than 100.000 views.

The hotel reservations in Lisbon increased by 5% compared to 2011.
