Pioneered by creators around the world, this film captures the sport in the throes of a full-scale creative rebirth. Dovetailing with adidas’ real and raw brand aesthetic, our documentary style art direction played a key role in the honest depiction of a sport ‘in progress’. Using reality as our compass, we collaborated with three running crews actively recoding the sport to guide our aesthetic, structuring the film around their native environments. Whatever locations and props came natural to them, we embraced, adjusting only minor details for light and contrast. Wardrobe, dialogue, running, personal interactions and even B-roll filming was left entirely to the runners for as real a depiction as possible. Using the full spectrum of digital and celluloid formats, from 35mm anamorphic to mobile 9:16, we integrated a wide range of footage to represent a true cross-section of a changing sport.
