Careful consideration was taken into account to make sure the CGI truck had the correct weight and suspension throughout the driving sequence. For the special truck features, “Crab Mode” and “Extraction”, these were animated from engineering documentation without any visual reference. Each sequence had its own challenges. “Crab Mode” features a rear-steer maneuver that we animated around a CGI environment to demonstrate the extreme capability of this feature. “Extraction” was the ability for the truck to rise up 6 inches for clearance around an obstacle (for this, we created a CG rock).
