Description
In Xbox's "Rise of the Tomb Raider" video game, we witness the gradual transformation of Lara Croft, the woman, into the legendary Tomb Raider persona. The spot is driven by an anthemic, original song from Karen O (best known as leader of the rock band The Yeah Yeah Yeahs) that we commissioned for this use. This haunting song, "I Will Rise," evokes the mental, emotional, and physical challenges Lara must endure as she ascends to her lofty destiny. To underscore this character's legendary status, the spot revolves around a series of graphical, iconic poses of Lara. We use these animated moments as transitional “keyholes” through which to reveal in-game footage that hints at the game's story, action, and promise. Ultimately, the spot serves to imbue the game with a dramatic and cinematic gravity.
