Description
In “Creating the Mood”, we hear the farmer saying “Flippen Popular.” “Flippen” is an Afrikaans colloquialism, which means “incredibly” or “a whole lot.” It’s become a catchphrase with the audience, as it is such a real “South-Africanism.” In Baby-Making Weather, we hear the farmer say to his wife “Gooi ‘it Bokkie.” “Bokkie” is a term of endearment in Afrikaans and “Gooi ‘it” means: give it all you got/really go for it. The farming community in South Africa is mostly represented by Afrikaans-speaking people, they are usually very genuine, warm-hearted people.
