Description
We created the Samsung School of Rugby game, a world first combination of live action and VR gaming to show off the Samsung Gear VR. Players learned about passing, a key element of the game, by keeping their eye on the ball as it’s thrown around England rugby legends and Jack Whitehall. A crosshair clocks your score and players compete for position on a leaderboard.
Execution
The game used live action footage, overlaid with a gaming element, resulting in an innovative way for people to interact with the rugby legends in a fully immersive lesson. The game was released in time for England’s first major game of the Six Nations tournament and showcased as part of an experiential event to fans at Twickenham stadium. In addition to this launch activity, it came as loaded on all new Samsung Galaxy S6 phones, meaning the game reached hundreds of thousands of people.
