Description
To bring to life the unique excitement one feels playing Scratchcards we created a film as unpredictable as the game itself.
Our heroine Harriet is seen on several "blind dates”, on each, her suitors are obscured by a giant silver panel, like those on the cards themselves. Her scratches reveal different characteristics of her would-be dates, taking her on an emotional rollercoaster mimicking the experience of playing the game.
With 5 different variations of the film featuring 5 different dates, the viewing audience never knew what they were going to get, just like scratchcard players
Execution
The casting of the heroine, Harriet, was very important. She had to be someone you sympathised with and wanted to do well, while at the same time not someone you’d get bored of watching perform a similar action.
The casting of the “dates” themselves was just as important, avoiding cliches but still subverting expectations, finding character actors whose personalities shone through without dialogue, and would complement each other as a collective.
