Description

MTV needed to promote its show Skins. An explicit and polemic teen show that takes place in Bristol, focused on several teenager issues, like sex, drugs and alcohol. We needed an approach as controversial as the show itself, for a poster to be placed on universities.

Execution

The concept showed us the way. A very true insight: Parents can't forbid things they don't know exist. To demonstrate it, we show examples of things that teenagers do and parents totally ignore. Like an Octabong, an odd and freak object and a dramatic evolution of the beer bong. The Octabong allows 8 people to drink beer (or any other alcoholic drink) simultaneously, and the effects are very much like the illustrated ones. Just the kind of thing any parent would love to see his kids doing. Or like a Rainbow Party. A sex party, quite common among teenagers, where girls wear color lipstick and boys are challenged to collect as many lipstick colors as possible on their penises. For sure not the kind of thing any parent would approve, if they were aware of it.We needed to show this, but not in an explicit way. We created illustrated icons that reveal.

Outcome

The reaction was as expected. Teens loved it. Parents didn't understand it. MTV received calls to send more posters because everybody wanted one. The show view rates keep increasing to this date.
