Description

A single shot film.

Molly, a young woman is stood in front of a parked car in a nondescript rural setting. She delivers a thought-provoking monologue exploring the advantages of ‘small’ and challenging the conventional idea that ‘big’ is always better. The camera slowly zooms towards the simply-dressed protagonist as Siouxsie & The Banshees’ 1978 classic ‘Hong Kong Garden’ gradually becomes more audible.Logo fades up at the end.

Execution

We wanted a girl with female energy and sass. Someone just old enough to have their first car. Someone who embodied the spirit of youth and freedom. Long hair, we wanted to see the wind in her hair. We wanted a girl that didn’t look like a typical advertising actor or model.Someone whose strength came from within. Someone with poise beyond their years.

We wanted someone you couldn’t easily pin down, no particular youth group or clear class or social position. We wanted their persona to contribute to the overall enigma of the film in this way.

Most of all we needed someone who could deliver the writing like it was their own. Who could bring the words to life in a real, believable and very honest way. Someone whose presence and delivery could hold our attention completely.
