Description

What if a simple note could change a behaviour? If we make drivers believe that someone hit their car and then they were surprised to know that a physically disabled person wasn’t able to use the sidewalk because of the way their car was parked? That’s what we’ve done.

Execution

How to change this habit? To raise awareness of drivers to this problem, we organized an interventive action. We tracked down illegally parked vehicles that were blocking wheelchair passages and left a note on the windshield.

As soon as the drivers saw the note, they picked up their phone and called the number on it. A moment later the “author” of the incident appears.

Unexpectedly its a person on a wheelchair.

We recorded the reactions of surprise and shame for all that is happening and obviously for parking in the wrong place.

Outcome

With this really simple action, the Associação Salvador raised awareness for a very serious civic problem, with a great impact in the lives of thousands of people with reduced mobility all around the country. No one was indifferent to this important message. We hope that these habits are changed, once and for all. In two days, this film has reached 2 million views on Facebook (Portugal has 3 million active profiles on Facebook) and more than 10000 shares.

This film was reported in major TV channels, newspapers and magazines of the country. Several countries all over the world (Spain, Brazil, Poland, EUA, UK) reported too. In Brazil, the film has reached 3 million views no YouTube. With zero traditional media budget, just one stunt, hundreds of people impacted on the streets and thousands by the film.
