OVERVIEW

Background

Rick Rubin had an idea to create an ever evolving, online exhibition of the things he’s interested in. Its name? tetragrammaton. As part of Squarespace Collection – an ongoing collaboration of the world’s most creative minds partnering with the world’s most innovative website platform – we helped Rick Rubin realize this long-term creative goal.

Idea

We worked with Rick to build tetragrammaton from the ground up. Creating the brand, collaborating on design, and exploring functionality. But in the spirit of collaboration, we saw an opportunity to build it in a way that could also inspire others to realize theirs.

We took all of Rick’s creative choices for his site — his fonts, colors palettes, and page designs — and turned them into an exclusive template that anyone can use as a starting point for their own website.

Strategy

The campaign was designed to resonate with Rubin’s fans, but more importantly – with anyone who has an idea and an internet connection.

Execution

We launched with a film shot at Rick Rubin’s Malibu compound that dove into the story behind tetragrammaton, which gave fans a glimpse into Rick’s own approach to creativity. It led to a website where fans could learn more about the project and explore the template inspired by Rick’s creative choices.

Outcome

It was our most successful collection to date.

The campaign garnered over 24M total impressions.

The Transmission design made it into our top 20 most popular templates globally within the first month of launch

Squarespace Collection: Rick Rubin was the most highly engaged content on Squarespace’s organic social channels in the last 12 months

Global press coverage from the U.S., Australia, and Sweden

But more importantly, Squarespace Collection continues to inspire thousands of new people to get started on their own creative journey.
