Description

Rey’s Speederbike ride through the Star Wars Jakku spaceship graveyard was created to help launch Facebook 360. The intention was to take a place that people had glimpsed in the Star Wars trailer, and give them the opportunity to get a closer look and to explore it in more detail than the trailer, or even the film allowed. In this way we could showcase all the detail and artistry that went into generating models like the downed Star Destroyer and allow people to enjoy it in a unique way.

Execution

We took the environment created for the film on top of real landscape photography and made a digital version that we could use for a unique 360 degree experience. To promote the idea that the viewer could look around, and get more out of the experience with repeat viewing where they looked in different direction, we created interactions with objects and characters that viewer might want to turn to look at a bit more closely as they passed or on a second viewing.
