Description

Swisscom is the largest provider of enterprise and consumer telco products in Switzerland. Its broad product offering requires the business to create and maintain a large number of customer-facing digital products, from websites to payment apps.

Following the creation of its original style guide in 2008, digital design teams around the business began creating digital products with their own interpretation. Over time, this led to inconsistencies in experience for their customers.

Moving Brands worked together with Swisscom to create the Swisscom Digital Experience, a web-based kit of parts that is enabling design teams around its business create better, more consistently designed digital experiences for its customers.

Execution

The Swisscom Digital Experience has been developed as an online repository of design elements and style guides. It gives product teams at Swisscom the ability to build exceptional new products and experiences from the ground up.

The platform is conceived as an inspirational companion to Swisscom developers, acting as a guide to release their potential, inspiring and supporting them throughout their design process.

SDX was created over a development period of 18 months, which saw Moving Brands and Swisscom collaborating, building the new tool and testing its functionality across four live workstreams. Doing so enabled us to rapidly understand the design principles and elements that we needed to include within the system, and ensure the concept would function in two areas, both for the design and development teams building products and for the end users.

SDX gives product teams access to over 26 categories of components, ranging from buttons to progress bars and the code required to implement them, and over nine interaction patterns, which informs everything from drop-down menus to carousels.

As a result, Swisscom is now able to ensure that its products adhere to its three fundamental principles, giving its customers simple, trustworthy, and inspirational experiences every time they interact with the brand.

Since the implementation of SDX, Swisscom has been able to reduce project timescales and costs.
