On July 7, 2009, Sci Fi Channel officially because Syfy, and bigger, broader, and more inclusive brand. But there was one hurdle left to jump: How do we celebrate in a way befitting our new identity?Our solution was to transform Rockefeller Plaza into a public oasis of imagination; a grassy place where anyone could stop by, stretch out on the grass, and Imagine Greater. Not only that, the day Imagination Park opened to the public Syfy became the providers of free wifi service throughout Rockefeller Center. That way even after the week-long celebration ended, visitors to the area could still engage their imaginations online.
