Description

Truck drivers have their own communication platform: CB radio. It is the only medium that makes it possible to reach the drivers directly in the cabin without knowing anything about them – their names, their land of origin, their language.

So we used CB radio to give truck drivers expert advice on how to fight fatigue when it was most relevant to them: while they were driving. Every advice was simple and most of them resulted in an instant change of behaviour.

CB radio also made it possible for truck drivers to directly and cost freely talk to experts.

Some of the messages of our CB RADIO RADIO CAMPAIGN were starting conversations among the truck drivers – because talking is another way to fight fatigue.

Execution

For truck drivers, CB radio is the main medium of communication while they´re driving on the road. It´s cost free and works in every country.

Using this unique platform we managed to reach truckers from all over Europe and inform them about easy ways to fight fatigue.

Every message reached our target drivers, when it was most relevant for them: in the drivers cabin.

Outcome

Covering the main traffic junctions within Austria, the CB RADIO RADIO CAMPAIGN reaches thousands of truckers from all over Europe every day. Every advice helps to make the lives of truck drivers – as well as the lives of everybody else on the road - safer. The campaign has just started in the end of April 2015, so we haven´t got any detailed results about the reduction of accidents yet. But the positive feedback the Vienna Insurance Group is getting on- and offline is a proof for the helping effect of our campaign.
