To bring Mandisa Mfeka's story of defiance to life in an authentic and honest manner, the director spent countless hours interviewing Kitty and researching her story. From her humble beginnings in Durban, South Africa, to the relentless and overwhelming physical and mental hurdles, to the captains & peers who told her she didn't belong.

Becoming a combat pilot is a pursuit of extremes, and the film needed to compliment every part of her story. The lighting, cinematography, music, choreography, set design, wardrobe, and SFX all had a part to play in this dance. Not one element could be out of beat. The director was meticulous and determined to do the story justice, despite having to produce this all in the middle of the pandemic-induced level 5 lockdown. A story of defiance in the making.
