Execution

Using Google maps, the website let anyone protest peacefully on Taskim Square by placing themselves on the map and sharing their participation with Facebook, Twitter and Google+.

Outcome

In spite of the government’s threats against social network users and the hacking of the website twice, backontaksim.org received over 40,000 visits and managed to create a demonstration reaching more than 6,000 protesters. Also, people could sign a petition to the attention of the prime minister. 4,700 signatures have been recorded. The website is still online. The virtual protest too.
