Description
It’s a fact that children have a special place in their hearts for that gentle giant among animals, the elephant. But this seemingly invulnerable creature is actually in danger.
We wanted to ensure a lasting future for this most compassionate creature by engaging the next generation to help raise awareness. So we re-imagined a story known to countless children all around the world, that of the Chinese zodiac.
Our sensitive update ‘The Great Race – A Story of the Zodiac’ became a heart-warming and beautiful tale about one animal’s struggle for survival and the power of friendship and kindness repaid. The illustrated storybook was designed specifically for - and launched on - World Book Day AND World Wildlife Day, March 3rd 2016, in schools and bookstores, on Amazon and as an eBook.
Execution
On World Book Day and World Wildlife day we launched ‘The Great Race’, a children’s book and eBook to end the ivory trade forever and grow the Herd for future generations. Recruiting the world’s children to #JoinTheHerd.
We reimagined a story known to children all around the world: ‘The Great Race – A Story of the Zodiac’. A timeless tale about kindness repaid, illustrated by Jack Fletcher. Designed to be both entertaining and to engage them in the cause.
Jack’s playful type and imaginatively child-like depictions made for a powerful printed book. An active tale with both small and big type to visually stimulate the audience and one day take action. Every page layout was designed for the story to flow from moments of excitement to sadness.
The book was screen printed and perfect bound to create an everlasting story, forever reminding the world’s children to protect these compassionate giants.

A heart-warming tale that delivers an important message about elephant welfare to the people that really matter: children
