OVERVIEW

Description

The film centres around the the Lucozade brand’s ‘Conditions Zone’ – a state of the art 5-a-side venue that gave amateur players the chance to play in the same heat and humidity that the England team would face in the 2014 World cup in Brazil. In the film we see then England Captain and Lucozade Sport brand ambassador Steven Gerrard literally melting in the heat. Benedict Cumberbatch narrates the spot as the metaphor of Steven melting depicts the real conditions the players would face in Brazil and the importance of keeping hydrated.

Execution

The film was comprised using a combination of CGI and digital 3D modelling generated through 3D body scanning.

The highly detailed 3D scan of Steven Gerrard was captured using the Agisoft photoscan technique in which over 100 cameras photographed an array of images to then create a highly detailed model with high resolution texture.

Tracking markers were placed around the studio during filming of the live performance to allow recreation of any camera movement in 3D.

The 3D model was then melted using ICE in Softimage to give the director complete creative control over the actual melting of Steven Gerrard.
