Description

To reach and activate real skateboarders, a target group that is not easily convinced, we knew that we had to create something they really want. Something that rewards them for doing what they love – skating.

So we created The List – a digital skateboarding game that can only be played in real life. An app game that rewards real skaters for performing real tricks, with everything from Soöruz sponsorship to trick activated discounts for the web shop.

Due to the tightness and familiarity within the French skateboarding community, The List quickly spread through word of mouth, filling up the BETA test group in just three days, with hundreds more awaiting the official launch for their chance to join. And of the official users, 85% of users have invited an average of 11 friends (now awaiting the official release, for their chance to join).

Execution

To join The List, download app and attach your phone to your skateboard, using the provided case.

As you skate, the app will analyze flips and spins of the board using the accelerometer, detect successfully performed tricks and give you points. You then climb The List and get rewards. Those who reach the top 40 spots get limited edition products to prove it, and whoever holds the number one spot gets full Soöruz sponsorship.

And every day Soöruz offers all users special trick activated discount deals for the webshop.

Outcome

Results for BETA version:

• The BETA test group filled up in just 3 days.

• 53% are interacting with the brand on a daily basis.

• Close to 200 000 successfully landed tricks have been registered so far.

• 85% of users have invited an average of 11 friends from the skateboarding community, who are now on the waiting list, standing by for the official release.

• Best of all, 23% have purchased Soöruz products.
