Background

Unless you're a professional photographer shooting in low light can feel like a challenge.

With the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+, the Super Low Light feature makes it possible to capture photos without thinking twice no matter the time of day.

Our task was to show VIP Samsung customers who pre-ordered the Galaxy S9|S9+ what the Low Light camera feature could do.

Budget $15000

Volume: 500

Idea

We created an exclusive commissioned photography book to be given as a gift at the pre-launch event and displayed across all our Samsung stores.

Every VIP picking up their Galaxy S9|S9+ received a complimentary Low Light Book.

The book was also put on display for customers to read while browsing the store.

Target audience: Millenials 19-30, metropolitan areas.

Execution

The acrylic deep etched cover was designed so that once removed it would mimic how the human eye adapts to low light without losing bright colours.

The book showcased Australia at night entirely shot by local night photographers using only the Galaxy S9.

We also included tips and tricks section so customers could learn how to flex their artistic side, toggling the aperture to create the mood they wanted.

And locations across the country for the perfect night shot.

Some pages were designed as an interactive element using acetate, which demonstrated the difference of brilliant light on the S9.

We also had tutorials from the photographers themselves on the night demonstrating how to capture brilliant photos in nearly any light, even low light.

Outcome

150, 000 new Samsung customers

Dwell time instore increased by 25% - week on week compared to the previous year.

During the launch and release of the book traffic to the store was 124,001 (3 months)
