Description
The Idea:
On 1st June 1963, Kenya attained self-rule from the British.
This historic day is called Madaraka Day. The film it’s a story explaining the events leading to this day, to a new generation largely young and mobile. The plot ensued freedom fighters having a comical Whatsapp conversation; Herein lies the link with the new offering that Airtel was offering.
The story was brought by Airtel, the world’s 3rd largest mobile telecommunications operator, with a strong presence in Kenya.
Execution
The Execution:
We aired the video online on June 1st, 2016, a public holiday named Madaraka Day which celebrates the attainment of Self Rule in Kenya.
We used our social platforms mainly Youtube and Facebook to showcase the film.
Outcome
The Results:
In 1 day & With no media budget:
85,000 views and over 2,000 shares.
The video was shared on Whatsapp as well, with a ratio of 1:4 shared.
