OVERVIEW

Execution

We partnered with a Melbourne artist, Pam Kleemann-Passi, to create a world-first, wearable material from moustache hair. Kleemann-Passi, who sadly lost her husband to prostate cancer, often uses human hair in her art to explore themes such as grief, disgust and medical science.

We sourced the moustache hair through a network of Sustainable Salons, plus individual 'mo-nations' from men across Australia. POLITIX expertly tailored the fabric into a two-piece suit; it bore an uncanny resemblance to their best-selling product. You'd never guess that the dappled, wool-like material was actually a melange of brown-ish, ginger and grey moustaches. That the elegant buttons and Movember-logo pocket pin were made of stubble. Or that the window pane stitching—although stylish—was chosen to prevent shedding.

Inside, the lining was printed with stories and conversation-starters from people whose lives had been touched by men's suicide, prostate cancer and testicular cancer—making it truly 'Worn to be Heard.'
