Description

While people browse Airbnb rather for apartments than for campervans their motivation is the same: they are looking for an affordable, cozy and flexible way to spend their holidays in different places of the world aside from the mainstream-hotels.

We converted the platform Airbnb into a showroom for the PEUGEOT Expert Patagonia Westfalia by staging the campervan in front of the most famous and most surprising sights across Germany and offering it on Airbnb as an overnight possibility at these exact spots, inviting the users to spend the night there and convince themselves of the great features the car has to offer.

In the ads we highlight the features of the car as well as the breathtaking view onto the different sights that come for free if you own a PEUGEOT Expert Patagonia Westfalia: The flexible holiday apartment on wheels, that takes you to most extraordinary travel destinations.

Execution

In April 2016 we took our campers to some of the most famous and most spectacular sights across Germany, took pictures of the campers and locations and uploaded everything as flats on Airbnb for everyone to rent. Then we contacted the press and spread the word.

In case the vans were booked out quickly we also organised a competition where everyone who was not fast enough to rent one of the vehicles on Airbnb, had the chance to win the camper for a weekend.

Outcome

The story was shared on various social media channels and within 24 hours all available dates were booked out.
