The regular Simpsons family sit down on their couch as has happened many times before. Then suddenly there is a power cut.

The lights go out and all we can see is the blinking eyes of our family. When the lights come back on we see that the family have turned into

slightly grotesque , Sylvain Chomet style French version of themselves, only thing is Maggie is missing. Marge hurries around looking for Maggie desperately.

Homer sits watching Tv and eating snails, Bart is stuffing a goose to may foie gras and Lisa is playing an accordion. The goose escapes and Santa's Little Helper devours it.

Homer eventually stirs from the couch to pluck a remaining snail from the TV set, as he turns to sit down again we find that Maggie is in fact stuck in between the cheeks of Homer's bottom.

This piece was commissioned by Fox for the Simpsons TV show. It was used as an online promotion in advance of the New Simpsons season for 2014 ( and also appeared in the opening of the first episode )

The idea was entirely devised as a concept and specially styled by director. Animated meticulously by hand , with pencil on paper, the piece is a perfect example of traditional animation craft at it highest level, creating beautiful movement, timing and humour all with just pencil and paper.

Additionally the piece was coloured digitally to create the illusion of inked back grounds, also showing the high craft and skill of the digital artists.

Hand pencilled animation is rarely seen these days and this is the technique crafted at its very best, we believe it deserves true credit and appreciation from the jurors.
