Execution

The Sopranos A&E Connection Game engaged the consumer by providing them with a way to “play” live broadcasts of The Sopranos on A&E. Players built up collections of icons of The Sopranos characters, places and objects. When the show was live on A&E, their online collection would “come to life,” animating real-time in response to the events of premiere broadcasts. Players compete to score the most points by arranging their pieces based on what they think will happen in that night’s episodes.

Outcome

The Sopranos on A&E was the most-watched off-net series premiere in cable television history. A&E was #1 cable network on premiere night (US), measured across demos and total viewers (4.3 MM). Game produced the greatest discussion activity in the history of AETV.com, pushing A&E to the forefront of emerging entertainment technologies.
