Background

Petrol Ofisi is the leading fuel company in Turkey.

It has supported people and institutions trying to create a better future for everyone. Altinordu FC's priority has always been to develop young players to their full potential. They have prioritized their talent's development more important than the club's progression to the Turkish Super League. For starters, they didn't even have a stadium to call home. So, Petrol Ofisi decided to step in and help out.

In the beginning, the brief was only to develop the envelope design for the card. But the coming stadium gave us an inspiration and we tributed it. We made a kit to be sent out to loyalty card members, people from the Turkish football world, press members, and opinion leaders with a budget of 60K Turkish Liras.

The kit had a limited-edition promotional box that transformed into a model of the stadium.

Idea

Petrol Ofisi, a long-time sponsor of Altinordu FC, broke ground for the Altinordu Stadium in 2017. A club that has trained world-class players and is yet to have a stadium of its own. In 2021 as the opening of the stadium neared, we wanted to create an unforgettable occasion for fans and players looking forward to the first match.

While our target audience was Altinordu supporters, everyone heard about the event from the kit recipients, which also featured the announcement.

This kit was sent to opinion leaders of Turkish football, fans of Altinordu, members of the Petrol Ofisi Altinordu Fan Program members, and press members.

Execution

Since the loyalty card already came with a box, we built our stadium around the box it came in. However, our box needed to have correct architectural aerodynamics to stand on its own when opened. It also had to be easy to open and build.

The base and card slots helped to play the cards on the upper face of the box when it was opened from side to side. Moreover, it bridged a generational gap by modernizing TikTak Football, an iconic and beloved game, through the Stadium of Respect featuring cards of legendary players.

Outcome

We were asked to create a work that embodied both the brand's and the FC's core DND, how they function, and what they long to achieve. We wanted to highlight that Altinordu aims to teach their young players the fundamentals of life and football and how they should always be playing the game with the same naivete of a little kid.

The boxes we have sent out created a sense of nostalgia, taking back the recipients to their childhood and reminding them how they played without the worries of a grownup. We announced the stadium's arrival, the foundation of which we laid, with a small tribute stadium. We touched the hearts of those who love Altinordu, the small team that raises players for every team and those who support it.
