Most people with multiple sclerosis (MS) are women of child-bearing age. The uncertainty MS brings leads many to incorrectly assume that their condition could stop them from starting a family. Without guidance from their doctor, these women can give up on their hopes of having children altogether. We needed to encourage Neurologists to talk to their MS patients about family plans. Many Neurologists do not routinely discuss family planning proactively and some actively avoid the subject.
