Making a sequel to the Underdogs had been on everyone’s minds since the release of the original, however the lockdown provided the catalyst to further explore these characters and their new realities WFH. the director developed the script with Apple mining backstories of characters he knows so well, while peppering in bits of their real lives. With the film, he wanted to capture a moment in time of how we’re living and working remotely.
Prepped in 3 weeks and shot over 6 days, the production team devised and executed a unique approach of shooting remotely with five virtual sets around the country, while some of the scenes were filmed with a skeleton crew adhering to covid guidelines. The obstacles the team overcame producing the film echoed the logistical challenges faced by the characters in the story, resulting in a short film that feels dynamic, inventive and uniquely of the moment.
