Background

The brief was to do an Easter Campaign focusing on family, sharing and people coming home for the long Easter Holidays to enjoy a full chicken and 2 single sides from Nando’s.

Our TVC shows a family going the extra mile in welcoming Nthabiseng's guests after hearing the word “They” when Nthabi’s imminent arrival for lunch is announced. They order Nando’s Sharing Meals to make sure there’s enough, as well as to impress Nthabi’s guests, only for Nthabi to arrive alone. That's when the penny drops and a teachable moment occurs for the family about what Nthabi identifies as

Execution

A young Sibling receives a call from her sister (Nthabi) to say that “THEY ARE COMING”, Her family receives this information with the perception that Nthabi is bringing guests. They immediately start cleaning and preparing the house for guests.

Looking in the fridge and seeing nothing to prepare, they order Nando’s. Nthabi eventually arrives, but to everyone’s surprise, Nthabi has arrived alone. The family asks Nthabi, where are “they” Nthabi explains that she is ‘they’. They all laugh and get it now that Nthabi refers to herself as ‘they” (pronouns).
