We tell readers about the world of innovation outside GE. Our stories spotlight cutting edge research in many disciplines. We extend our impact by tackling articles with hard-nosed journalism—digging for scoops that traditional media outlets haven’t found, talking to leaders and innovators, and being unafraid to tell a good story.
Our goal is to be a go-to source of science and technology news by telling short- and medium-form stories that inform and inspire. We embrace multiple forms of media to do this, publishing gifs, articles, videos, photos and infographics that that are shared inside and outside our native platform.
Outcome
Readers appreciate our journalistic work, as do media like Gizmodo, Scientific American, Wired and others that regularly republish our work. This earned media placement inserts GE into global conversations in a range of relevant subjects and establishes the company as a progressive, engaged thought leader.
Since the site launched on Tumblr in December 2012, it has earned more than 59 million page views, 280,000 notes and 177,000 followers. Txchnologist’s posts regularly go viral within the Tumblr ecosystem, and reposted stories in other media outlets and sharing sites like Reddit and Twitter amplify a positive image of GE to millions monthly.
