Background

Situation: Mercado Pago, the digital bank that aims to empower people to have a better financial life, aimed to gain relevance in the dynamic category of Fintechs, for it to happen it was necessary to set itself apart from the burocracy of traditional banking and the informality that characterizes to some new technologies that can be catchy for consumers. Brief: Use our investment tool to create differentiation and show that when it comes to make your money grow, only Mercado Pago gives gains. Objectives: Engage people to make them feel attracted to our investment tool. Make clear and understandable our main benefit: your money grows everyday.

Idea

In the context of an NFT drop, we decided to pursue a profitable investment strategy. We purchased a devalued Bored Ape, invested an equivalent amount in a Mercado Pago account to generate returns, and appointed the acquired Bored Ape as the spokesperson for our campaign. As his investments flourished, he began offering financial advice to the NFT community and beyond.

Additionally, we analyzed the data of each Bored Ape owner's losses and created customized videos for each individual. These videos conveyed a simple message: 'Investing shouldn't just be cool; it should be profitable.

Strategy

We pinpointed an NFT meeting two key criteria: widespread recognition and devaluation. Our choice? A Bored Ape from the famed Bored Ape Yacht Club collection, known for its market visibility. After confirming its popularity via conversation analysis, we acquired it. Our aim? Showcasing Mercado Pago's strength by emphasizing that "investing shouldn't be cool, it should be profitable". This previously dormant Bored Ape became our spokesperson, gaining value with Mercado Pago. It began offering financial advice to fellow devalued NFT owners, including celebrities like Justin Bieber, Eminem and Paris Hilton.

Execution

We bought a devalued Bored Ape, invested an equal sum into a Mercado Pago account for generating profits, and named the acquired Bored Ape as the face of our campaign. With his investments thriving, he started giving financial advice in short videos.

We didn’t just aired the campaign on social media. We also created personalized videos, turned them into NFTs and transferred them for free to Bored Ape owners' wallets, ensuring they wouldn’t be overlooked. The videos featured a message from our spokesperson advocating for Mercado Pago as a superior option.

By discovering that crypto wallets don't filter incoming NFTs, we cracked the code to speak directly to high-value prospects and created the first-ever commercial in Open Sea collections.

Outcome

Our once Bored Ape was not bored anymore and became a superstar and trusted investment advisor among our community, thanks to Mercado Pago. Among our most significant achievements:

706% increase in interactions compared to past campaigns, achieved organically.
