Description

To promote the launch of the new Playstation and Xbox game to the fans of the Mortal Kombat series and the comic universe.

Execution

MORTAL KOMBAT FATALITY!

The finishing move in the iconic video game where you get to decapitate or rip out the heart of your opponent, amongst other things. The word FATALITY appears on screen.To promote the new MK vs DC video game, we recreated these FATALITIES on the actual comic books. We placed comics in the customers call orders in the comic shops, mimicking this extremeviolence by ripping, slicing and punching holes through the relevant DC comics. With the line “FATALITY!” placed on top of them to give an idea of exactly what happens to these supeheroes in thegame. Thus showing how the various fatalities from the mortal kombat universe have collided with the DC Universe comic book characters.

Outcome

The idea was praised by the gaming community as perfectly suited for the product. Many blogs contained articles on the idea and shop owners were questioned by many customers about the meaning behind the work.Although it is not possible to directly attribute game sales to the idea, they did increase.
