Description
The Touareg is a new direction for Volkswagen. We seized on the idea of creating a sort of "artbook" on the Web – a series of pages that were beautiful to look at and told a story on their own, but also created a narrative when read from beginning to end. This concept forms the "Explore" section of the site – a story of adventure, whimsy and exploration that we hope people will associate with the Touareg. Within each Explore page is also what we affectionately call a "nugget button." When a user clicks this, a screen opens to show footage of the car, interviews with top VW designers and auto experts, illustrated tales of the Touareg’s technological prowess, etc.
Features, Gallery and Press make up the rest of the Touareg site. The Features section is an interactive series of rollovers that appear on the illustration of the Touareg at right. Click on a feature and a detailed description opens right up for you. Then click again to see a photo of it. For the Gallery, we just wanted to show big, beautiful pictures of the car. Then we added some video footage to make it a little snappier.
