Active safety, sure-footed traction, optimum straight-line stability and lots of driving pleasure – these are the benefits of the Volkswagen 4Motion all-wheel-drive system. In this TV commercial these advantages have been demonstrated with youngsters on the most adverse of surfaces: pure ice. And of course in a very simple way.Moving forward is a struggle without a 4Motion Volkswagen: slow, dangerous and not a lot of fun for those involved.
With a 4Motion Volkswagen moving forward is the opposite of that: safe, superior and a lot of fun.
Execution
Outstanding control on the most adverse surfaces, best handling stability, superb straight-line running and a lots of driving pleasure: the main benefits of the 4Motion all-wheel-drive system are practically identical to those offered by the ice-skating aid. That’s why Volkswagen built the first 4Motion ice-skating aids in the world and sent them to skating rinks for a series of free test runs.
Outcome
The little Volkswagens made hundreds of new fans. Whenever they appeared, people from all ages surrounded them and took photos. And that’s even before they took to the ice. The promotion was accompanied by a TV spot, social media and PR. The effect has therefore to be seen as a result of a combination. On the Internet the enquiries about 4Motion went up by 200%, and car dealers recorded twice as many test runs with 4Motion models compared with pre-campaign figures. And the positive effects are likely to last: the youngest test pilots on ice were only 2 years-old.
