OVERVIEW

Description

So, when Love Has No Labels asked America what it means to be American and to rethink patriotism on the fourth of July, we cast someone unexpected. Someone Americans would expect to be on the other side of the conversation. An alpha white, hulking specimen of America - wrestling superstar, John Cena. What starts as a rousing speech about patriotism pulls the rug on viewers' implicit bias, revealing that the average American is far from a straight white male like himself.

Outcome

The unexpected casting immediately resonated in social media and the media at large. The hashtag #CenaForPresident even trended on Twitter, and then we started to hear our words being read back at us as love and inclusion became a core election topic.
