Background

Launching a new campaign to celebrate the professional songwriters, musicians, engineers, producers, and performers who bring music to life.The academy is comprised of musicians, recording engineers, producers, and other musical professionals that has presented the GRAMMY awards since 1958 in celebration and acknowledgement of excellence in the community of music. We Are Music involved singer-songwriter H.E.R., Chad Hugo from N.E.R.D., Swizz Beatz, and Ann Mincieli (longtime engineer and studio coordinator for Alicia Keys).

Execution

The editor wanted to highlight the creative process of making music by editing both music and dialogue first to create a rhythmic sound bed. This constructs a hybrid track for the viewers to follow without having to watch the imagery, and allows them to embark on the journey of discovery through the creative process of testing, writing, recording, rehearsal, and the final performance – all whilst using voice-over to embody the wholehearted support that we offer. Although the video was originally destined to be only 60 seconds, the agency and client fell in love with the long-form rendition, and ultimately decided to run the more complete version on social media channels instead.
